This tour is aimed at a specialist audience from politics, public administration, scientific and educational institutions, national and international delegations.
In Berlin TXL, the city of tomorrow is being built on the site of the former Tegel Airport: the Urban Tech Republic research and industrial park and the sustainable Schumacher Quartier residential district.
The two-hour guided tour of one of Europe's largest urban development projects is aimed at an interested audience of urban planning and architecture experts and will be led by a doctoral candidate at the Technical University of Berlin. Information will be provided on the development concept, the current development steps and the planned energy supply, water management, mobility and smart city topics.
The tour leads along the iconic architecture of the building ensemble designed by Meinhard von Gerkan, Volkwin Marg and Klaus Nickels (gmp), which was built between 1969 and 1975. This opens a fascinating view of the former airfield. The historical and architectural significance of the monument is comprehensively presented in dialogue with the planned subsequent use as an innovation location
